Cancer Moonstone Crab Bracelet - Sterling Silver & 10K Gold

A little bit of moonlight, magic, and Cancerian mythology for the wrist.

Created by Meryl Smyth of Myth and Stone for BIRTHSTONES, Teko Gallery’s group exhibition celebrating one-of-a-kind jewelry inspired by birthstones and astrological stones, this enchanting bracelet is an ode to Cancer, the moon, and the watery world they share.

At the center, two sculptural crabs engage in a full moon ritual, dancing toward a luminous rainbow moonstone held between them. As Cancer is ruled by the moon and its emotional, watery tides, the crab becomes the perfect symbol for this deeply intuitive sign. Warm 10K gold crescents frame the central moonstone, representing the changing phases of the moon and adding beautiful contrast against the sterling silver.

The symbolism continues throughout the bracelet, which is finished with an anchor chain and features four moonstones in total. Each stone carries its own ethereal flashes of light, giving the piece a magical quality as it moves on the wrist.

Equal parts fairytale, talisman, and antique treasure, the bracelet embodies Meryl’s signature approach to jewelry. Each sculptural element begins as a block of wax that is meticulously carved by hand before being cast in metal and individually finished in her Tucson studio.

A wonderfully imaginative piece for a Cancer, a moonstone lover, or anyone who finds themselves drawn to the magic of the moon.

About the Artist

Meryl Smyth finds jewelry making to be a joyful convergence of her lifelong fascination with rocks and gems and an innate desire to create. Her collection, Myth and Stone, is equal parts fairytale and antique treasure, reflecting the many ways she finds beauty and magic in the world around her.

Exploring themes of self-discovery and finding magic in the everyday, Meryl meticulously hand-carves each piece from a block of wax before it is cast in metal. Every piece is then finished by hand in her Tucson studio.

Her hope is that the love and inspiration she pours into the making process can be felt by the person who ultimately wears the piece - allowing a little of that light and magic to travel out into the world.
