A tiny world of transformation unfolds in this extraordinary one-of-a-kind necklace by Kimi Kaplowitz, created for Teko Gallery’s BIRTHSTONES exhibition.

At the center, a sculpted Oregon sunset jasper hand gently cradles a pearl egg as a golden snake emerges from its shell. Drops of golden yolk spill beneath the egg, while darkened leaves and silver mushrooms twist and grow around the serpent, hand, and egg. The entire miniature scene is suspended from an oxidized sterling silver chain finished with a serpent’s tail clasp.

The imagery transforms the necklace into a miniature story of birth, transformation, and the cycles of the natural world. Every angle reveals another tiny detail, from the hatching snake and pearl egg to the mushrooms and foliage surrounding them.

Kimi’s jewelry celebrates the smallest details of nature. Mushrooms, ferns, leaves, and tiny creatures collected while foraging become starting points for her work, which combines traditional jewelry techniques with her background in sculpture, metalsmithing, and miniature world-building.

Crafted from recycled 14K yellow gold and sterling silver with pearl, Oregon sunset jasper, and gold leaf, this remarkable piece feels like a tiny myth captured in precious materials - strange, beautiful, and full of life.

Created in celebration of pearl, a traditional birthstone of June.
