“Unceasing Legacy” - Jocelyn Alsira Solis, in collaboration with Daman and Marie Thompson

Jocelyn Alsira Solis is an interdisciplinary Honduran-American artist, educator and maker based in Boston. Jocelyn was raised simultaneously between Virginia and Tegucigalpa. Solis art practice is centered on creating art jewelry as adornments for the body and used as an avenue for storytelling. Pre-Columbian metalsmithing practices, education, migration and cultural socio-political narratives are stimulants to her work. During this process, I specifically decided to maintain the original form and stamping, that's where culture and identity lies. Because the shapes were already geometric, I added the 18k gold granulation accents, a stone-hammered sterling silver plate around half of the shape and the silver accent on top to resemble natural forms and how each concept complements each other.
